After waiting for the boys to get up from their naps and to get the car packed up we finally got in the car around 6 or so and headed down to Portland for the ride. Of course, due to the fact that we have two kids the time it took for us to get down there was much more than we thought was humanly possible. We stopped in Parkland for burgers then stopped in Lakewood for coffee and so Milo could eat then got in stop & go traffic down Hwy 99 because we thought it would be faster than the freeway which was also very slow.

I’m all set to go for the Summit to Surf next Saturday in Oregon. I’m doing “The Original” + 2, 56 mile route that starts in Welches, goes up to Government Camp and then down to Hood River. We’ll be staying with my sister and her family in Portland and then I’ll hopefully see everyone at the finish line or sometime soon after. Right now I’m feeling kind of blah about riding but that might be because of the blah weather we’ve been having. I’m excited to ride in another event and I’m looking at doing more so I know my spirits will improve. Oh, and we got the new Harry Potter yesterday so I’m sort of busy with that too.

The Summit to Surf ride is part of the Tour de Cure for diabetes and as my biological father died due to complications from the disease I have a personal connection to the cause.
